A man stabbed several people on a train in northern Germany, leaving two dead.
According to the German news agency DPA, the police detained the attacker after the incident that happened on Wednesday.
Germany’s federal police say that the attacker injured several people with a knife when the train from Kiel to Hamburg arrived at Bruckstadt. The initial report of the police said that seven people were injured in the attack.
Later, Interior Minister of the state of Schleswig-Holstein, Sabine Suterleinwach, said that “the attack took place at three o’clock in the afternoon according to local time, in which two people were killed and seven were injured.” According to DPA, “Brookstedt railway station was closed for several hours after the attack.” Police did not provide DPA with information on the identity of the attacker, saying only that “investigations are underway to find out the reasons behind the attack.”
